Bula and greetings from Fiji Island Tours

Bula and welcome to Fiji Island Tours
third "Bula Sheet" for 2005.

In last months' newsletter Richard filled us in on his whirlwind visit to Fiji and some great things happening at the Resorts he visited. Sadly for us, none of the team has been to Fiji this month, but have trips planned for May and June and will have more first hand news to share with you then. However, just because we haven't been doesn't mean we're not up to date and eager to share our news with you!

The big news for Fiji itself was of course the Fijian Rugby team winning The Melrose Cup at the Rugby World Cup Seven's tournament. A national holiday in Fiji was declared! Fiji is now the team to beat in the remaining leg of the International Rugby Board Sevens series - so keep an eye out for the Fiji Boys!

While the boys are playing Rugby internationally, the girls are heading for Fiji. The 5th annual
Roxy Pro Fiji, stop number 3 on the Women's Championship tour, will return to the pristine setting of Tavarua and Namotu Islands on April 17-22. A truly amazing field of female surfers will hit the breaks at Cloudbreak. Watch the action live, and keep an eye out for our Aussie girls on roxy.com. If the waves look too good and you just want to be there any one of our team can talk to you about the many surfing resorts in Fiji, one of which is Plantation Island Resort, located just a 20 minute boat ride from some of the best waves in Fiji. Big Johnnie takes trips every day, and every Saturday takes a boatload of eager surfers to Cloudbreak itself. Plantation is a great place to combine a family holiday with a need (!) to surf.

Fiji Island Tours is working exclusively with recently opened Lomani Resort located on Malolo Lailai on a truly exciting and new concept for Fiji. Seafood and Fitness in Fiji is an exciting venture that will be hosted at Lomani by Anna Philips. Anna is a well known and respected chef, with over 20 years experience. Her specialty is seafood and she is well known through her work at the Sydney Fish Markets Seafood School and regular TV appearances. She has also written many wonderful cookbooks.

Anna will host a week of seafood cooking classes. With an aim of teaching things that you can take back home with you Anna will incorporate traditional "Aussie" style BBQs for example with fabulous and new Fijian flavours. You will have the opportunity to learn about local Fijian food, and even forage in the waters in front of the resort for local delicacies. The fitness part of the week will be co-ordinated by a personal trainer and is meant to kick start you, not be a boot camp. Gentle yoga, kayaking, swimming and jogging will be on offer. Or, sit under a tree and read a book - it's your choice!

This trip would be enjoyed most if the girls gather up their friends and use it as your own special break. The numbers are limited to 10 people on a twin share basis, so pick your friends and call us to get some more information. The first week is planned to depart Sydney on July 24th to return July 30th. Don't miss out on this unique Fiji event - and book early and you will receive Anna's cookbook "From Water to Plate" to get you really in the mood!

Below is a snapshot of resort information. There is a lot happening at the Resorts, so do give us a call to chat specifically about your favourite resort, or to learn more about a new one.

Resort News
Rae's South Pacific has been renamed The Pearl and as Richard told us last month has had an amazing makeover. Guests staying at any of the Bures at Outrigger on the Lagoon will now experience the new "Talai" (Butler) VIP service. It's a wonderful idea with great inclusions including complimentary champagnes and canapes personally delivered to your Bure every afternoon. Yasawa Island Resort has announced kids month which will give families a rare chance to holiday together at the luxury of Yasawa. From June 24 - July 15 the resort will welcome kids of any age making it one of the only premium resorts in Fiji to accept children under the age of 12.
Blue Lagoon Cruises has extended its popular "Kids Cruise for Free" offer until 30 September, 2005. The offer extends to 7 day/6 night Gold Club Cruise Programs. Malolo Island Resort has recently opened its Leilani Spa Facility. The facility has 3 treatment Bures and offers a whole range of therapeutic face and body treatments to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. Castaway Island Resort has welcomed a new dive team - Waz is an outgoing, friendly no worries Aussie and Elle is soft spoken with a smile that will make you feel just right! They have years of dive experience, love the water and can't wait to share the magnificent Castaway dive facilities with you.

From all the team at Fiji Island Tours we wish you all the best in the next month when we will be in contact again with our next newsletter.

Don't forget if you re-book with us within 12 months of your earlier booking you will get a special discount of 2.5% on your subsequent booking - another reason to start planning! And when you return, if you would like, bring your surplus change into our office and we will add it to our regular contribution to selected Fijian children's charities.
