Bula and welcome to the Fiji Island Tours newsletter for this month.
Having just returned from Family Time at Turtle Island in Fiji's beautiful Yasawa Islands I felt it was a must for this months' newsletter to be focused on Fiji for Kids - Luxury. This will be part one of a two part look at these wonderful Luxury resorts that open up for families several times a year. These resorts are select, unique and despite being at the upper end of the price range represent great value for the experience they offer. This month we will feature Turtle Island, Vomo Island Resort and Jean Michele Cousteau. Look out next month for Yasawa Island Resort and Vatulele .
Fiji is a heaven for children, and all the popular wonderful resorts that cater to families all year around do an amazing job. Children return to Fiji time after time with fond memories of the places they visit and the people who made their trip so special.
Realising the need to cater for families, Turtle Island Resort has been operating Family time for quite some time. The next family time at the resort will be from December 13 2008 - January 11, 2009 and June 27, 2009 and July 17, 2009. An important thing to note, if you are considering family time at Turtle for any of these dates, book early as those who were there in the previous family times have generally rebooked as they leave the island and space will fill up quickly - you really don't want to miss out! I believe there is no greater testament to the wonder of Turtle than this very fact.
We traveled to Turtle Island for the July school holidays and discovered a paradise for adults and children alike. Turtle Island is set up unbelievably well for a resort that is adults only most of the year. At CC's Beach, right down the end of the main beach - an open bure is set up for the kids use - it is here that all the fun is based! There's a craft corner, sleeping area, complete with cots for little babes, enough spy boards, snorkels and flippers for each child, tents for nighttime sleepovers and the all important blackboard with the days events outlined. Events may be a beachside picnic on the other side of the island, a snorkeling excursion, T.Shirt painting, evening bonfires, horse riding, handline fishing, swimming races to the pontoon, - or on the night of the Polynesian Dance Show, an intensive practice session for our little performers! Meals are based down here, but are movable - your dining spot is best identified by the twinkling fairy lights over the magical table.
Parents are relieved of all the daily responsibilities of child care - and can enjoy all the things that Turtle offers its adult guests. Each child upon arrival at Turtle is greeted by their own personal buddy - a beautiful Fijian friend who's sole responsibility is your child's Fijian fun. Our little boy Hugo so loved Sam his buddy that unbeknown to us he worked out how Sam could come home with us - he is still sad that that couldn't happen. More information on Turtle Island Resort »

A handful of Fiji's Luxury resorts cater to children all year around - notably Vomo Island Resort and Jean Michele Cousteau. Before our stay at Turtle Island we returned to Vomo. During school holidays Vomo sets its Chiefly Bure up as a Kids Club base and offers a full days range of activities - aside from the ones the island offers naturally - a walk to the mountain top, golf, tennis and water activities. Out of the school holidays, although there is no official kids club, the Vomo staff make the kids feel truly welcome and it is an ideal, uncrowded option for 5 star family fun. Vomo is unique for one more reason - it is home to a breeding program of Loggerhead turtles - when we were there the baby turtles were just weeks old - and a wonderful lesson for the children about protection of species. Similarly Jean Michele Cousteau, an award winning 5 star resort on the island of Vanua Levu combines 5 star luxury with family fun throughout the year. Jean Michele Cousteau offers families a unique program whose goal is for children to understand and appreciate the world around them and how to conserve and protect their environment. Jean Michele Cousteau offers childcare daily on a ratio of 1:4 for children over 5 years old. Those younger than 5 have their own personal nanny included in your tariff. All of these wonderful resorts take the family holiday one step above the usual. If your family is looking for a Fiji holiday that is at a smaller, more exclusive and luxurious resort, and that offers more than just a Kids Club with the usual activities then any of these three resorts would be ideal. If your family time must take place in school holidays we do encourage you to talk to us about your plans as with limited times available, and limited bures at each of these resorts we would hate for you to miss out.
