Wakaya Island has provided a haven over the centuries to travellers
including Capt. William Bligh over 200 years ago. It however took the
vision of David and Gill Gilmore who brought the island some years ago
to transfer his Fijian Islands into the most sought after hideaway
offering every conceivable luxury to augment stunning variety and
natural beauty of the island.
Accommodation: The 2200-acre island has just 9 bures offering
between 1500-1850 sq ft of elegance. All are close to the lagoon and
set in park-like gardens. Decorate in casual island style with state
of the art inclusions. In addition there is a separate home, David and
Gill's own house (12000 sq ft) / 'Vale O' (home in the clouds)
offering ultimate privacy, unparalleled service, panoramic views and
exposing beauty in detail. 'Vale O' can accommodate up to 3 couples.
Activities: The Wakaya Club offers just about everything in the
form of sports including doing absolutely nothing. Superlative Scuba
Diving, a challenging 9-hole golf course, tennis, croquet, deep see
fishing, & fully equipped gymnasium. Less challenging activities
include an art gallery and museum featuring historic Fijian and Island
pictures and artifacts, visit the archeological site and nature walks,
Village Clinic Services and traditional dance pageants special
designed restorative massage therapy and beach picnics.
Weddings: The Wakaya Club is the paradise chosen by some of the
worlds famous to exchange their wedding vows. The island will
coordinate your wedding ideas and provide the perfect surrounding to
make the most memorable of days.
